These are the proper “Protocols of Prayer” according to the Scriptures.
Always begin your prayer by addressing “God the Father”, like “Heavenly Father” or “Father in Heaven”
Then follow these steps in order.
1. Confession:
Admit, acknowledge or site your known sins to “God the Father”. Do this without remorse, telling him you’re sorry, or promising Him you’ll never repeat them again. When you do this, God forgives you also for all the sins that you do not realize you have committed. Remember, all of our sins are already forgiven, so just ask and it’s done. Now your slate is clean.
2. Thanksgiving:
Thank Him for His Son Jesus Christ, His Word, His perfect Plan for you, and everyone and everything else that is good in your life. Remember, believers will go through many trials and tribulations in their Christian walk, so it’s a good idea to realize when things aren’t going so well that He still has a perfect plan for your life, and all things will work together for good.
3. Intercession:
Praying on behalf of others for comfort, for needs, for healing etc.
4. Petition:
Ask God for things you need. Things you would like to improve in your personal or spiritual life, like guidance, strength, patience, wisdom, understanding and whatever else you feel you need.
Close your prayer with:
“These things I ask in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior”
“In the power of the Holy Spirit, not my will, but Thy will be done, Amen”
The Holy Spirit straightens out our prayers and prays for us.
Rom 8:26 & 27
Once you have completed your prayer this way, you are filled with the “Holy Spirit” and God is free to guide and bless you. This filling of the “Holy Spirit” is commonly referred to as being “In fellowship with God”. You want this to be your status for as long as you can maintain it. Remember our fellowship with God is broken as soon as we sin, so once we have sinned again we need to go back to Him through prayer and confess our new sins and start the process over. The most important thing to remember is that God does not hear our prayers or answer them when we have unconfessed sin in our life. So pray often, and try to stay “in fellowship” as much of the day as you can. Remember God is just waiting to bless you!
Please share these protocols of prayer with anyone that you think could use them. Proper prayer is the key to spiritual growth, happiness and blessing in the spiritual life and plan of God. 🙏🏻
